18. Axial Fan Types Based on Mounting: Wall, Duct, and Roof Configurations
Axial fans are categorized not only by their internal design (Propeller, Tubeaxial, Vaneaxial) but also by their mounting configuration, which determines their specific application environment[23]. The three most common types based on mounting are Wall-Mounted, Ducted (In-Line), and Roof-Mounted[13][18]. Wall-Mounted Axial Fans (often simple propeller fans) are installed directly into an opening in a wall or panel, such as an exterior wall or the side of an industrial enclosure[8]. They are used for general room exhaust or supply ventilation where air resistance is extremely low, providing rapid air exchange in warehouses, workshops, and paint booths[13][21]. Ducted axial industrial fans Fans (Tubeaxial and Vaneaxial afs fans) are designed with circular flanges and a rigid casing, allowing them to be installed directly into a section of cylindrical ductwork[13][23].
