Breslin brings emotional depth to a demanding role, while Bean and James Purefoy (as another villain) add an aura of gripping menace. Although the plot feels somewhat cliché—like a "rural version of the Sopranos"—the film remains addictive thanks to its tight action scenes and an explosive ending.
