Urban Games : Extreme Action Full of Surprises.

Ever imagined parkour, BMX, and motocross combined into a revenge plot? That's Urban Games (城市游戏), a Chinese-American action film released on May 16, 2014, and the first Chinese film to feature urban extreme sports. 

Directed by Bob Brown (a Hollywood stunt coordinator) and Zhang Peng, the film stars Shawn Dou as Webber, a young athlete whose life is ruined when his brother dies in an "accident" during the Urban Games (UG) competition they created themselves. When his younger sister is kidnapped, Webber is forced back into the dangerous arena—from the skyscrapers of Beijing to a dilapidated warehouse in Seoul. Together with Fee (Michelle Chen) and several other athletes, Webber must complete a series of deadly challenges while uncovering a massive conspiracy behind the UG: corruption, murder, and billions in illegal betting.

With a runtime of just 87 minutes, the film is fast-paced and gets straight to the action. While the acting might be a bit stiff and the plot somewhat predictable, the stunts are real (without excessive CGI) and will definitely make audiences exclaim "insane!" during many scenes.

For fans of action films like District B13 or Brick Mansions, Urban Games is a hidden gem from 2014 that is worth watching. The IMDb rating of 5.5 is perhaps too low—if you enjoy pure adrenaline, this film is much more exciting than that number suggests.
