Rampage: Capital Punishment: A Crazier and Darker Time Bomb

If you've watched Rampage (2009) and thought, "this is already absolutely insane," then the sequel, Rampage: Capital Punishment (2014), takes it up a level to become truly brutal, cynical, and unrestrained. Still directed and written by Uwe Boll (who is very serious this time), the film continues the story of Bill Williamson (Brendan Fletcher), the genius mass murderer who survived the first film.

This time, Bill isn't just shooting random people. He infiltrates a TV studio in Washington D.C., takes the entire crew and employees hostage, and forces a live national broadcast. With his face covered in war paint and wearing a bomb vest, he delivers a lengthy "manifesto": the capitalist system is broken, corruption is rampant, stupid citizens are controlled by the media, and the only way to wake up is through total chaos.

What makes this film different:

• Bill’s monologue is super sharp and (unfortunately) many of his points still feel relevant today

• Brendan Fletcher gives an incredibly insane performance—from cold and calculating to explosive

• The violence is extreme but not gratuitous; every shot has weight

• An ending that leaves the audience silent (and some angry)

The trilogy concludes with Rampage: President Down (2016), but Capital Punishment is the peak—the bravest, most disturbing, and most hated yet secretly praised entry.

In short: Not a film for everyone. But if you like intelligent, anti-system psychopathic thrillers that aren't afraid of blood, this is one of the most potent of the 2010s.

Duration: 93 minutes

IMDb Rating: 6.0/10 (again, underrated)

Genre: Action, Crime, Thriller

Warning: Very graphic violence + coarse language

Bill’s iconic quote:

“I’m not a mirror. And you’re all looking at yourselves.”

Watch if you dare, alone, late at night, volume loud.
