Not Batman, Alan Ritchson Wants a Darker Role in the DCU
Actor Alan Ritchson, widely known through the hit series Reacher, is in serious talks with DC Studios. Interestingly, although many fans hope he will be the next Batman, Ritchson has revealed a different desire: he wants a "dirtier" and "messier" role.
In an interview, Ritchson specifically stated that he is not interested in playing a "clean-cut" superhero. He is looking for a character with higher moral complexity, such as an anti-hero or even a villain.
"I want to play someone who is a little bit messier," Ritchson revealed. "I described to them (DC Studios) the type of personality I want to play, and what that means for their world."
This statement indicates that Ritchson, who previously played Hawk in the series Titans, is ready to break the image of the ideal protagonist. His desire for a more brutal character with gray morality opens up new speculation about which character he will play under the direction of James Gunn and Peter Safran.
Although discussions about the role of Batman had emerged, Ritchson is now leaning towards a character that allows him to explore a more diverse and dark side of acting. Characters like Midnighter, Bane, or Deathstroke are now hot topics of conversation among DC fans.
The new DCU will introduce a new version of Batman in the film The Brave and the Bold. However, with Ritchson's ambition for a darker role, it seems he will be part of the DCU in a much more unexpected and thrilling capacity!
